A recent story featuring Maria Shriver was aired on the NBC Today show. It offered a brief glimpse into the heartbreak, frustration and reality of caring for a loved one who has Alzheimer’s disease.

For the family, it’s a full-time job, and it impacts multiple generations. Formerly strong grandparents grow weak and need care. Adult children try to help as much as they can, and grandchildren miss out on childhood to chip in. With are over 16 million caregivers in the U.S., including over 250,000 children under age 18, 60% are suffering high emotional stress and 40% are suffering from depression. The numbers are staggering and sobering.
